In subsequent years my words were SING, THANKFUL, TRUST, VICTORIOUS, and I finished 2020 with REJOICE. We are all grateful to see the end of last year. It was a tough one, but I grew closer to my Lord than ever before. During sleepless nights I penned my thoughts to Him. Soon I jotted down prose at any time of the day or night, when the Sprit nudged me to do so.
I found myself returning to Jesus and the Bible time and time again. In her July 29, Jesus Calling devotion, Sarah Young wrote that we should go to Him continually. His Spirit within me gives a tug, prompting me to return to Him. I do that by opening the Bible. I made a note back in July of ‘20 to use RETURN as my 2021 word.
By returning continually and reading, especially the Psalms for me, I soon forget why I’d been bothered. Instead, I find a new song in my heart. I’m more thankful for little things I hadn’t noticed before. I trust on a deeper level. Knowing I’m a victorious overcomer because of what He did on the cross, I can rejoice all over again as I return to His Word.
I’m so Glad
I’m so glad to know
You have the future
We hear doom and dark
Gloomy forecast ahead
Once You were the head
Our country has changed
Mankind has turned
The enemy has hold
Those who know You
Cling to the hope of promise
May my countrymen
Find their hope in You
I’m so glad to know
My future is with You.
Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
