This Thanksgiving I’m grateful for forgiveness and relationships.
One of the problems I have as a writer is that often there is so much on my heart. My mind often goes ahead of my fingers at the keyboard and while I’m digging into my Bible. I’m often reminded of my inadequacy to forgive at times, to put others first in relationships, and to be content in all circumstances.
In my human frailty, the Lord sees me as righteous. Oh, how I fall short. I am undeserving of God’s forgiveness. His grace covers all my shortcomings.
Way back to my first release, Moselle’s Insurance, a reader said, “One thing I love about your story is the theme of forgiveness.” I celebrated God’s forgiveness through second chances when Eric and Moselle got married over the Thanksgiving holiday in Rainn on My Parade.
For some reason, this past summer was rough. Relationships are affected by what goes on in the lives of those we love. My dear hubby knew something was wrong. I admit that I was depressed. Though I was down in the dumps, I was writing verses, my modern-day psalms of joy and thankfulness. I titled the volume “Worship through Verse.”
That November following the publication of my first novel, I was blessed with a new relationship. I wrote about my unknown cousin Marlin in an earlier blog post, and that he met Jesus this past July. Hubby and I concluded that I had taken hard the death of an aunt, and then my cousin. Losing two loved ones within months, all mixed up with the lockdown, my surgeries last year and his operation this year … life hasn’t been what we’d like to call normal.
We are meant to work with others and use our spiritual gifts to enhance relationships. Our sufficient God supplies all we need to fulfill His will as He works in us individually. His work can’t be done effectively if we harbor unforgiveness. One of His promises is that He never lets us go, and He commands us to love one another in John 15:12.
The blessing of forgiveness transforms relationships into harmonious, loving, prayerful, and grateful hearts. God is also glorified, and that should always be our goal.
I wish you all the ability to ask for, grant, and receive forgiveness. Reflect on your relationships and be joyful we are not in this world alone. Our relations with others involve much give and take. Be thankful for the people who grace your life, cherish them. I wish you manifold blessings this November, and through the holidays.
