1 Peter 5:7 reads: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
The fifteenth of the month is my own deadline to prepare this blog for the following month. I realized on July 19th that I hadn’t given August a moment’s thought, other than maybe it should be cooler than the 100-degree-day forecast for our anniversary the end of July. “Cancel the outdoor plans.”
I searched some older blog posts and blog ideas, and ran across this from 2013: July’s heat and a family member in crisis have stolen energy from my body and spirit. For a week, I struggled with what to write. The WIP I had turned back to wasn’t progressing the way I wanted, so I set it aside, knowing I needed to return with a fresh perspective.
Through my scattered thoughts July 20th of this year, I checked through jotted notes on various pieces of notepaper, all the while ideas for more modern-day psalms wound through my head. I set this statement in the introduction of my fourth journal volume:
follow the prompts of the still small Voice, known as the Holy Spirit, and answer the call to align human action with the plans our Almighty Father has set in place.
That nudging Voice kept reminding me to get back in the Word on a deeper level. Jesus comes first.
I know no greater cure for the anxiety of having too much on a to-do list, either on paper or in my head, than listening to worshipful music, singing while soaking in His presence.
Focus on Jesus settles me down. It may sound like a Christian cliché, but God really does meet me wherever I am and points me in the direction He is leading. I am nothing without Him. I can surely do nothing for His glory if my life is out of balance.

God is bigger than regret
God is bigger than worry

God is bigger than distress
God is bigger than a to-do list
God is bigger than the enemy
No matter tomorrow’s trouble,
God is bigger.
Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek His kingdom and His righteousness first…the days I remember to do that before my feet hit the floor are always better days. No matter what I face or think I HAVE TO DO, God is bigger. He creates the balance and all works out to His glory.
