Deep-down joy is present. I trust and am assured daily through the Bible that I am strengthened and sustained by my Lord Jesus. After all, he’s inspired me to write over 600 modern-day psalms in seventeen months. Needy, I turn to God’s Word. A lot.
I began my fictional WIP (work in progress) in February, 2020. I set it aside to write the poetry. I set it aside to write this year’s Christmas story. I’ve picked it up several times and have been unable to continue from where I left off. I even retreated away from home, but got hooked on Netflix.
All that touches my life is according to God’s will. Even detours, because I did relax while I was gone. Bottom line, the mountains and valleys, highs and lows, continue on. Authors and other creative sorts are reputed to be temperamental. That’s all I’ll say on that subject.
So where do we go from here? One day at a time. Just sit on my bum, and do it. Even if I have to begin with “I don’t know what to write. I don’t know what to write. Where do they go from here? What happens next?” Enough of that, get the fingers moving and instinct takes over. Well, more often than not.
Other writers have linked writing to quilting, piecing the puzzle picture to form a cohesive story. Whenever I see a crazy quilt, I look at the fabrics, the intricacies, the stitches, and wonder about the creator. We are all called to write different things and to do different things. Could be, I’m at a crossroads where my fingers return to stitching fabric pieces together rather than words.
All according to my Lord’s direction and timing.
This Writer’s Prayer
Dear Father God,
In the Name of Jesus,
I seek forgiveness.
Sometimes I forget
You give the desire
And ability to create.
You are the Creator,
The leader who gives
Creative skills and talents.
As my God
You put ideas
In my heart.
Because You care
What I do with gifts,
I must honor You.
Thank You, Lord,
My Father and Teacher,
May I always glorify You.
Amen.
